crossing lines

As well as creating jewelry, I am a songwriter. Yesterday between creating some new rings and earrings (which I have yet to put in my shop) I had a rehearsal with a musician friend who is sitting in with me on djembe and guitar, while I play keys and sing (tonight). I enjoy crossing those two lines in side of myself - creating- then polishing up a different type of creation - then
going back to the previous one.

Tonight I am traveling to Raleigh to play a few songs in the singer/songwriter open mic at the Six String Music Cafe. I can't wait :)

singles getting attention now

I've been making/wearing my own wire wrapped rings for over a year... just didn't feel until recently that they were ready to be added to my shop.

Today, I gathered up my courage and took the plunge - here's a shot from a new listing I added this evening... I hope to get several more up this week.

The really fun part about creating each ring is going through my vast collection of beads or wandering, enthralled through the bead shop and finding the lonely hearts... those without a pair, a mate, a friend or lover, and giving them the attention that they deserve.

So, just for now, all you beads out there that have a mate to balance your position, eat your heart out.

shop updates

I added this bracelet today... and did a lot of photo edits to existing items.

Photos are an area in which I can see that I've improved, yet I am very aware that there remains a learning curve!

I am happily learning new chain maille techniques, and hope to add new items in the coming weeks that incorporate my new skills :)
Have a happy weekend and a blessed Easter.

deep, passionate espresso

I snagged a treasury on Etsy this afternoon, and my theme is espresso. I LOVE coffee!!!! Take a peek at these lovely handmade (with love) items!
Here is the url, since I can't figure how to get a screen shot on here :)

connect the dots

From point A which I didn't realize I had started until point D made itself known has left me 3 inside connections to make. A misunderstanding, an unasked question, an unsaid thought up to the moment that I was told that I created harm has lead me to know that I owe an apology for harming one I love... without knowing precisely what I said and how I said 'it'.

It's time to connect the dots and restore balance inside of this relationship. Honesty is difficult to return to with clear recollection, for it is the internal experiencing of it and the ensuing reactions that we really remember - not exactly the words that were said or their intention.

At this point, the most important thing seems to just be loving and let the rest take care of itself as it does.

memories...

Whilst I was sneaking around the forums in Etsy tonight, it struck me... I have a blog! I hopped over here, and my last entry was May, 2009 according to Google - gulp. I had totally forgotten about it.

Sometimes in my eagerness for creating, I forget to do the other stuff that one should be doing to help along one's success rate.

So, memories, light the corners of my mind, and now this little corner of cyberspace. Hello to old friends, hello to (hopefully) new ones as well.

I'm back.

I haven't posted anything in a few weeks... so hello out there :) The good news is that I've done several custom orders that have kept my nose to proverbial grindstone. I've also been hard at work updating my shop with new items and improved photos. I've discovered the power of the 'color balance' edit option in Kodak Easyshare. Once I've clicked on that option, and balanced it, then I go to 'scene balance' and adjust the exposure and highlights for purer color and a brighter background. It's like I got new glasses that I can share with everyone!
Here are a couple of my new listings, the orange/yellow pair of earrings are called "hello sunshine" (it's rained here for four days straight, and I was channeling some sunshine), and the green pair are called " s o o n" becuase I know that soon the grass will begin to green, the garden beds will have green shoots, and we'll be on our way to spring loveliness!
